The Garrison wedding venue is such a gem in upstate New York, and Linnea and Greg’s fall wedding there was the perfect example of why.
When I first moved to NYC, I was eager to meet couples and build community, so I did a few model calls. That’s how I met Linnea and Greg. We shot together, clicked instantly, and after that session they asked me to photograph their wedding. I have been looking forward to it ever since. Getting to show up for people from that early “new in the city” season of my life always feels extra special.
One of the things I love most about The Garrison is how homey it feels. It operates as a restaurant and inn as well, so the whole place already has this warmth and lived-in charm that you cannot fake. The getting ready area upstairs is honestly one of my favorites. It feels more like a cozy bed and breakfast than the sterile, overly bright getting ready rooms a lot of venues offer. It set the tone for the whole day. Relaxed, comfortable, and still really beautiful.
Linnea and Greg’s details were also so artful and intentional. From the oversized bow on her dress to the Monet-inspired backdrop for the seating chart, everything felt like them. You could tell they really had an eye for the little things and an appreciation for art, not in an overdone way, but in a way that made every choice feel thoughtful. Those are the kinds of details I’m always excited to photograph because they tell the story of the day in a deeper way than just “pretty décor.”
And then there are the views, which are the huge draw at The Garrison. The ceremony backdrop is unreal, and it makes portraits so easy because you can step outside and instantly have something stunning. But my favorite part of the day might have been cocktail hour. The sun was starting to go down, the light was getting soft, everyone had a drink in hand, and we took quick portraits of guests as they came through. The outfits were so good, the vibe was so fun, and it felt like one of those moments where everyone is fully settled into the day and just enjoying it.
If you want a venue that feels elevated but not stuffy, has amazing food, beautiful getting ready spaces, and views that do not quit, The Garrison is such a solid choice. Linnea and Greg’s day there was warm, creative, and easy in the best way, and it was a joy to photograph from start to finish.
