This Courthouse wedding in Brooklyn was sweet and sentimental!
Ella and Brandon are high school sweethearts who have been together for years! It was finally time for them to tie the knot.
We met up at Brooklyn City Hall where their moms joined us. Originally from California, their moms traveled together across the country to witness their marriage at city hall.
After their short and sweet NYC courthouse wedding, we ventured down to DUMBO for some adventuring and photos, and their moms tagged along.
After signing in and filling out the paperwork, Ella and Brandon had a fairly short wait for their turn to be married in Brooklyn City Hall. They had a few intimate and quiet moments together before heading into the ceremony room. The thing about city hall is you never know exactly what you’re walking into! It could be full of people and take forever, or it could be very quiet and less crowded. Be prepared for anything at city hall! It’s kind of like a much happier version of the DMV, but for weddings.
NYC Courthouse Wedding Ceremony Room
The room used for Brooklyn City Hall weddings isn’t exactly anything to write home about, but I would argue it is better than the Kindergarten classroom feel at Manhattan’s City Clerk! Regardless, Ella and Brandon had a short and sweet ceremony and were elated to have finally tied the knot! Their moms watched tearfully as their children wed, and I may have shed a tear or two myself. Then, we did portraits out front. The regality of wedding portraits in front of a courthouse never gets old of me.
It was a windy day in DUMBO, and Ella’s gorgeous long red hair was the star of the show. Scroll on to see her rocking the wind blown look all afternoon. Often, wind can be frustrating when you’re trying to look picture perfect. However, leaning into the wind can add a really romantic, candid feel to your gallery. Ella handled the weather like an absolute pro!
DUMBO is a popular choice for portraits following a Brooklyn City Hall wedding, because there is so much to do in such close proximity. A favorite stop in DUMBO is always Jane’s Carousel. It’s whimsical and a great backdrop of course, but it also offers some shade and is a great way to break up the day. It’s also such a fun memory to share from your wedding day!
