SOHO Engagement Photos | Rose + Raul

With Rose being a fashion gal, SOHO engagement photos were a clear fit for these two. I met up with Rose and Raul on Broome Street on a pretty cold New York City morning at sunrise. This time of day is ideal for engagement photos because while there are still people up and about in the city that never sleeps, there aren’t quite SO many at this hour. This makes it so much easier for us as we take our time and don’t have to dodge quite so many speed-walkers on their morning commute! As hard as it is to wake up AND be photo ready this early in the morning, one huge benefit was that there was actually parking on the SOHO streets at this hour, so Rose and Raul were able to pull right up to our meeting spot!

SOHO ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS AT SUNRISE

The season in which you take you engagement photos in New York does play an enormous factor in how the photos come out! For Rose and Raul’s session, rain and snow had been on the forecast all week. While it made it so much easier for us to get around when the forecast was wrong, I was fully prepared to have the session despite the weather. First of all, the forecast changes in the blink of an eye in NYC. So I was equally as prepared for the sun to be shining (and it did)! However, some things you can do to prepare for a New York engagement session in not-so-ideal weather:

  • Bring umbrellas! I prefer the clear ones or a simple black one. You can each carry one or snuggle up under the same umbrella!
  • Have a stylish coat that photographs well
  • Find a nearby coffee shop, bar, or hotel to warm up in mid engagement session! This is also a fun photo opp as well.
