The Ultimate List of Intimate Wedding Venues in NYC Curated By an NYC Wedding Photographer
For intimate NYC wedding venues, restaurants are a popular alternative to the traditional wedding venue. Not only are there fewer traditional venues in NYC, but they are naturally much pricier than wedding venues in the surrounding areas (New Jersey, Long Island, etc). Undoubtedly, we have seen an uptick in intimate weddings post-COVID. Restaurants are really suitable venues for the intimate weddings for various reasons. Restaurants and their staff are already set up to host large groups of people with exceptional service. They also already have most of what you’d need, meaning little-to-no additional furniture or table settings will need to be sourced. And of course, NYC has a surplus of amazing restaurants to choose from.
Obviously, there is the restaurant’s specialty – food. While your guests love you and are there to support your marriage, the meal, if done well, is the highlight of many wedding guests’ experience. A restaurant will likely have better food than most traditional wedding venues and catering services. Also, you can choose a restaurant that specializes in a style of cuisine that suits your personality.

Small NYC Wedding Venues
1. Bobo
A charming French respite for a small nyc wedding
Bobo is a charming French restaurant nestled in the West Village. Holding up to 125 guests, it has several rooms available for different size events with the option for a full or partial buyout. The upstairs garden is a popular spot for its charming ambience. The French cuisine and attentive service are another benefit to a Bobo wedding.

3. The River Cafe
The River Cafe is a Michelin star restaurant with an idyllic terrace boasting views of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline. While it is best suited for more intimate weddings, The River Cafe does have the capacity for a small but decent sized dance floor. The cost of a River Cafe wedding is significant compared to some of the others on this list, but considering that it is a Michelin star restaurant and the location is stellar, it is more than worth it.

4. Palma
NYC’s West Village is home to some of the city’s favorite restaurants. The West Village’s Palma is an Italian villa style restaurant featuring a lovely garden at the center. This small NYC wedding venue feels like home, and its cozy and romantic atmosphere makes it a popular choice for small NYC weddings. The best part…the restaurant is on Cornelia Street, made famous by our girl Taylor Swift.

5. Tavern on the Green
Location, location, location! This restaurant is inside Central Park and is all about New York tradition. If you are looking for an elegant, classic, and yet still unique NYC wedding venue, Tavern on the Green is worth looking into. The online reviews boat about the exceptional service and wedding day experience. The incredible cuisine at Tavern on the Green is a welcome surprise when so often wedding guests expect mediocre food at weddings.

7. Celestine
In the heart of DUMBO, Celestie is an intimate wedding venue with incredible views and service to match. Most of the restaurants on this list are Italian cuisine, so I LOVE that this is a mediterranean restaurant to mix things up a bit. DUMBO is a popular spot for engagement and wedding photos alike, so there is no shortage of photo opportunities.

8. Bryant Park Grill
Again, fabulous food is an obvious attraction for most venues on this list. Located in midtown Manhattan, Bryant Park Grill is in close proximity to so many NYC attractions. As a New York City wedding photographer, I can imagine walking around the corner to the NYPL for elegant newlywed portraits. Right in the hustle and bustle of it all, the area is a great place to capture the feeling of New York City. While Bryant Park Grill can accommodate up to 220 guests, it is often used for more intimate events as well.
Bryant Park Grill Starting Cost: $34,000

9. Brooklyn Winery
Although very industrial, Brooklyn Winery is covered in lush greenery. With exposed brick and wooden beams, the ambience is warm and inviting. This is one of the largest venues on the list with a guest capacity of 120-150. I still considered is intimate enough to be included on this list of small NYC wedding venues.
